NEW POLKA ALBUM
And a very happy National Accordion Awareness Month to you! To
celebrate, I’m very happy to announce my latest release, The
Original Collection. The Original Collection features the
brand new “Rapid Fire Polka,” written for banjo/guitar player Jim
Thull and his fascination with 32nd notes. I hope you enjoy this new
In addition, The
Original Collection features 16 newly remixed original songs I’ve
recorded since my first CD release in 1998, The Pursuit of Polka’s
Lost Frontier, through my latest CD release in 2017, Happy
Polka Day. Originals from The Pursuit of Polka’s Lost Frontier,
Polka Visions, and A Stretch of the Imagination feature
a brand new rhythm piano track, while a few also sport new upright
bass parts. Of all the aforementioned CDs, only Happy Polka Day
is currently in ample stock, making The Original Collection a
great way to round out your music library!
Collection is also my very first digital-only release. This is
good news, because it saves you money, and you can easily download the
album – or just the specific tracks of your choosing – and burn your
own personal CD. A complete track list, audio samples, and a purchase
link are available on the Music page at
Collection is available for order right now on the Music page at
www.mikeschneiderband.com. The full
album is only $9.99; individual tracks are just $0.99. The Original
Collection is sold through CD Baby’s secure online store, and will
be available through other online retailers shortly.
PINT SIZE POLKAS
This edition of the update comes to you from Albuquerque, NM, where
I’m performing for eight of their public libraries this week. I also
performed for two libraries on “the other side of the mountain” as
they say here in Estancia and Moriarty yesterday. After I wrap up in
NM, I head back east to Texas for a two-week tour, and then catch two
libraries in KS and NE on my way back home, where I’ll be very briefly
before heading north to central MN through July 3. Exciting times for
Pint Size Polkas! My summer this year features 152 shows, which is an
all-time high for me. Be sure to check the
Events page for details on where you
can see a Pint Size Polkas show near you this summer!
THE MIKE SCHNEIDER
If you want to catch the Mike Schneider Band in action in June, you
have just one opportunity, and that’s at the family picnic at Luther
Memorial Chapel in Shorewood, WI on Sunday, June 24 starting at 10:15
AM until whenever they send us home. In July, we have three parades on
the Fourth of July, plus a beer garden performance in Kenosha on
Saturday, July 7 from 6-9 PM. Details are below, plus be sure to check
the Schedule page at
www.mikeschneiderband.com for a map
and directions to each location. Hope to see you soon!
I also want to take a moment and acknowledge the passing of Roy
Ehnert. Roy, a fellow accordion player and friend to almost anyone who
shared an interest in polka music, started following my band from very
early on. I had the privilege of sharing the stage with Roy along with
Joey Klaas, Concertina Millie, Steve Young, and many other great
Wisconsin polka musicians in several of Roy and Pat’s famous backyard
parties. Please keep the Ehnert family in your thoughts and prayers.
We’ll miss you, Roy!
